Filey is only a short distance along the coast from The Bay Holiday Village. It is a quaint Edwardian coastal town with a selection of individual, interesting shops. Its sandy award-winning beach is an ideal place to spend an afternoon. If you feel a little more energetic, you can explore one of the many nature trails around the town, or across to the magnificent Filey Brigg.
Filey is the nearest train station for The Bay and also has the nearest Tesco Superstore (not 24hr), and cash dispenser. There are many cafés, restaurants, pubs and take-a-ways. A good place to start your break would be a visit to Filey’s Tourist Information Centre.
A walk along the beach from The Bay (tide permitting), into Filey for breakfast, can be an excellent way to start your day.
Scarborough is only 8 miles north of The Bay. It is Britain’s earliest seaside resort and has been welcoming visitors for over 360 years and is still as popular today.
It is often considered to be the “Queen of the Yorkshire Coast” and boasts a north and a south bay. Both have clean, award winning beaches and are broken by a rocky headland upon which stands the historic remains of Scarborough Castle.
Enjoy all the fun of the traditional seaside fair in the South Bay with rides, amusements and candyfloss galore! There are rocky out crops in the North Bay that become isolated at low tide making it a haven if you love to explore rock pools.
Also at the North Bay can be found Scarborough’s famous Sea life Centre. Without a doubt something for everyone can be found here and it will make a memorable family day out. And don’t forget to sample the world famous Scarborough Fish & Chips!
